Using Kerberos/GSSAPI authentication
Configure the Oracle Calendar desktop client using Kerberos/GSSAPI
Important: If your computer is not already configured to use Kerberos/GSSAPI, you will need to install and configure a Kerberos client before continuing.
To configure the Oracle Calendar desktop client to connect to the dCal server using Kerberos authentication, do the following:
- Start the Oracle Calendar desktop client.
- In the Sign-in window, click Other.
- In the Connection Manager window, click New.
- In the Connection Editor window, in the Connection Name box, type dCal.
- In the Server box, type schedule.duke.edu, then click Lookup.
- In the Connection Configuration window, select Configure For Specific User and enter your NetID.
- Click Configure. The Connection Configuration window closes.
- In the Connection Editor window, in the Authentication list, select gssapi:kerberos5.
- Click OK. The Connection Editor window closes.
- In the Connection Manager window, select dCal, click Make Default, then click OK. The Connection Manager window closes.
Note: Do not select Enable Automatic Sign-in. The dCal server does not support this feature.
Sign in to dCal
To log in to dCal via the Oracle Calendar client using Kerberos authentication, do the following:
- Start the Oracle Calendar client.
- In the Sign-in window, click Sign-in. If you are not already authenticated through Kerberos, the Kerberos client appears, prompting you to authenticate. Otherwise, the Oracle Calendar client will accept your existing Kerberos authentication.
Note: The first time you sign in to dCal, an Oracle Calendar window appears asking if you would like to have an offline Agenda. If you plan to use Oracle Calendar offline (for example, to read or modify your calendar), click Yes. You will be prompted to set up an offline Agenda password. In order to protect your NetID password, leave Password blank and click OK.
Two calendar windows open. The In-tray window displays calendar entries (those in the New folder are awaiting your response) and the Calendar window displays your calendar for the current day.
