dCal software

Oracle Calendar Web client

Once you have a dCal account, you can access dCal via the Web. You'll also want to review our recommended settings for the Web client.

Oracle Calendar Desktop Client

To use a dCal desktop client instead, you need to take three simple steps:

1) Download and install an Oracle Calendar desktop client

2) Configure the desktop client

Server-based authentication provides a reasonable level of security and requires no additional software; Kerberos authentication provides a higher level of security and provides a persistent login lasting at least 10 hours. Also, other Kerberos-aware applications (SAP's "Authentic Login", Mulberry, etc.) will use the same Kerberos ticket as dCal.

3) Recommended settings

Oracle Connector for Outlook

If you are familiar with using Microsoft Outlook for calendaring, you can access your dCal account via Outlook by installing the Oracle Connector for Outlook (OCFO). (Please see our notes on dCal software and Office 2007.)

dCal on the go

dCal supports two methods for synchronizing your dCal agenda with a handheld device. For wired synchronization (using either Palm HotSync or Microsoft ActiveSync), we support the Oracle Calendar Sync software. For wired or wireless synchronization over an active Internet connection, we support Oracle Mobile Data Sync.

Note: If at all possible, one of the sources (either your device or your dCal account) should be blank for the initial synchronization. If there is data on both your device and your dCal account, your initial synchronization could result in data duplication.

Oracle Calendar Sync

You can synchronize your handheld device with dCal using the appropriate Oracle Calendar Sync software below. This software is for use with devices that require a wired connection to your computer.

Oracle Mobile Data Sync

You can also synchronize any handheld device with a working Internet connection (wired or wireless) with dCal through Oracle Mobile Data Sync using either built-in or third-party OMA-DS/SyncML software.
