dCal Resource Manager responsibilities
As a Resource Manager, you are a focal point for information about using dCal resources within your group. While OIT supports the dCal functionality, your group likely has policies for using and sharing its resources. As a your group's dCal Resource Manager, you have the responsibility to help reflect those policies in the tools we provide.
Understand resources and help others use them
You should be ready to help others get the most out of dCal as a collaboration tool. You will be expected to:
- Communicate information about new or revised resources to others who use the resources
- Help others learn to reserve resources and understand how reservation approval works in your group
- Be familiar with how viewing and designate rights affect others and be prepared to help designates learn their roles
Work with OIT to maintain the resources
As a Resource Manager, you are a partner with the dCal administrators in maintaining dCal resources. You will be expected to:
- Be familiar with resource features and standard conventions
- Plan carefully before making resource requests so that your resources meet the needs of your group but do not overlap
- Maintain the designate and viewing rights of your resources
- Keep resource passwords secret
- If you pass on the management of a resource, introduce the new resource manager to these guidelines and inform OIT of the change in resource management. To inform OIT of a Resource Manager change, please submit either a Resource Change request or a Help Desk request.
